The Abomination Of Desolation

Biblical Concept

This is a topic that many in the church find to be fascinating. It is very important because Jesus actually makes reference to it in scripture, that's why we need to study it well. The 3 Gospel accounts that Jesus addresses this concept is 1 Mathew 24:14-15:- Jesus said "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations ; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand,)". 2 Mark 13:14:- Jesus said "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judea flee to the mountains." 3 Luke 21:20-21 Jesus said "And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains ; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto." Now let's see how this applies to the end of the world. The servant of the Lord Ellen G. White said in her book(GC 25.4):- Jesus declared to the listening disciples the judgements that were to fall upon apostate Israel and especially the retributive vengeance that would come upon them for their rejection and crucifixion of the Messiah. Unmistakable signs would precede the awful climax. The dreaded hour would come suddenly and swiftly. And the Saviour warned His followers. When the idolatrous standards of the Romands should be setup in the Holy ground, which extended some furlongs outside the city walls, then the followers of Christ were to find safety in flight. When the warning sign should be seen, those who would escape must make no delay. Throughout the land of Judea, as well as Jerusalem itself, the signal for flight must be immediately obeyed. He who is chanced to be upon the housetop must not go down into his house, even to save his most valued treasures. Those who were working in the fields or vineyards must not take time to return for the outer garment laid aside while they should be toiling in the heat of the day. They must not hesitate a moment, lest they be involved in the general destruction. Now let's understand exactly what the Abomination of Desolation is. This is when the idolatrous standards of the Romans from a pagan nation being placed in what is considered sacred ground.
Therefore the Abomination is to unite the Holy i.e sacred with the Profane i.e idolatrous. And after this unification, the Desolation will follow. Let's look at an endtime application of this Abomination of Desolation:- When read Danied 9:24-27 It says.., Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem, unto the Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. This prophecy tells us that there would be a rejection of the Messiah at the end of the Seventy weeks after confirming a convenant with many for one week which is the last week of the Seventy weeks. So first you have this Abomination and then the Desolation follows when the people of the prince to come shall destroy the city making it desolate. In Daniel 8 you have a King of fierce countenance understanding dark sentences who would come and destroy God's people and that's from the curses that Moses gives to the children of Israel in Deutronomy 28. The nation of Rome came and destroyed the Jewish nation in 70AD, Emperor Titus wanted to stop the destruction but nothing could stop it. That's the primary application of the Abomination of Desolation. Ellen G. White made it clear that the reason as to why there was an Abomination of Desolation that destroyed the city of Jerusalem is because the Jews rejected the Messiah. And that's when they had their close of probation in 34AD and they nolonger continue to be the chosen of God though they can be saved. The Christian Church is the Israel of God. The endtime application of the Abomination of Desolation is when the National Sunday Law is enforced. When a law is passed that claims a common secular day to be sacred instead of the Biblical Sabbath found in the Ten commandments (Exodus 20:8-11 and Deutronomy 5:12-15). This is when the Roman Catholic Church and The United States Of America will unite to create a law that unites the sacred with the profane. And law that persecutes those who do not follow along with this law will be passed. Therefore, first the Abomination by unification then the Desolation through persecution with a death decree. That's when Micheal the Great prince will stand up to deliver His people because the remnant is under siege by the endtime Papal power.
